Types of coverage included included in this plan include hospitalization, intensive care unit, fracture, permanent and total disability, paralysis, loss of or loss of use of arm, hand, leg, foot, loss of sight, loss of speech, rehabilitation, trauma counseling, and accidental death.

Provided by ACE INA Insurance, the plan allows a person who is off work as a result of a strike or lockout to have their premium waived for up to six months - with no reduction in benefits. Any decision by the insurance company can be disputed through an independent mediation/ arbitration process.

Other benefits of the Union Savings plan include:

• Automatic eligibility for all members between 18 and 74.
• Coverage available for spouses and children.
• Up to $100,000 benefit in case of disability.
• Up to $50,000 benefit in case of accidental death.
• Up to $36,500 for hospitalization.
